CASP prioritizes serving healthy and nutritious food at it’s programs, and the Be Fit Club is a big part of making this happen.
Be Fit Club plans nutrition lessons and healthy snack projects at select CASP programs. One of the recent lessons was all about healthy fats: which foods contain healthy fats, and why we should eat them.
To show CASP kiddos an example of a yummy food with healthy fats, Be Fit Club made guacamole at some of the CASP programs. CASP kiddos are always included in making the healthy snacks. This involvement helps kiddos learn about measurement, and helps them feel more invested in the activity. Many of the students had never had guacamole before, but the tasty and nutritious snack was a big hit!
