Girls On The Run is in full swing at nine of the CASP programs! Girls on the Run was started in North Carolina in 1996 and is now a nation-wide non-profit organization. Girls on the Run is open to 3rd-8th grade girls and its purpose is to inspire girls to live a healthy and confident lifestyle. According to the Girls on the Run Website:
“The 24-lesson Girls on the Run curriculum combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with lessons that inspire girls to become independent thinkers, enhance their problem solving skills and make healthy decisions. All of this is accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and the community.”
CASP Be Fit Club began a partnership with the Oklahoma County Girls on the Run program in Spring 2014 and had great student participation! We’re partnering again and are looking forward to another fun and exciting Girls on the Run experience! The CASP Girls on the Run participants will be training through April and May and will run their 5K on May 30th!
